Frequently Asked Questions About
Book Buyback
If your book came with a CD
or other materials, please bring everything with the book to Buyback.
What is "book buyback?
Book buyback is a service operated by the Bookstore allowing students
the opportunity to sell unwanted textbooks at the end of each semester.
Do I need my receipt?
No, a receipt is only necessary at the beginning of each semester in
order to obtain a full refund.
Which of my books will the bookstore
buy back?
Book are bought for the upcoming
semester only based on instructor's book orders. Books are bought
either:
-for the store at half price
-at wholesale price
What determines if we pay half price?
-Book order received from
instructor before buyback
-Same edition of the book
-Not overstocked (book didn't sell well - still have enough on hand).
-Have now exceeded our quantity needed
What happens if any of the four above
items occur?
We employ a national used book company - they offer a price on the book
for 0-30% based upon national resale value. Those books are
shipped off campus and are sold to other bookstores throughout the
country. This gives the students an opportunity to sell unused
titles if they desire. Old editions of a textbook usually have no
value.
Half of what price?
Half price of what the student
paid. If the book was purchased new, then half of the new price;
if it was purchased used, then half of the used price.
When is buyback?
At the end of each semester
during finals - Fall, Spring, and Summer
